Susan Orloff: Taking Steps to Bridge the Gender Gap in Gastroenterology Leadership Roles

As more women take leadership roles in gastroenterology and , it can go a long way in helping to bridge the gender gap in that other specialties in medicine.

The percentage of women physicians in gastroenterology and hepatology has remained fairly stagnant over the years — which means that it hasn't been growing.

Through simple steps like mentorships and fellowships, Susan Orloff, MD, the Oregon Health & Science University says that women can expand their roles, which can help future generations reach higher levels in their careers as well. Orloff spoke about this topic during the annual Digestive Disease Week (DDW) 2016 meeting in San Diego, California.
