DXA Versus BMI for Determining Metabolic Health

In this video, Steven R. Goldstein, MD, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at NYU, discusses new research he presented in October at the 25th annual North American Menopause Society meeting. The study – "Is a percentile of body fat determined by DXA a better surrogate for metabolic health than BMI?" – revealed that using DXA to determine body fat percentage tells a much different story than BMI when evaluating the metabolic health of postmenopausal women based on body mass.
